Headaches and Chiropractics: How the Two Meet
How headaches can be cured by chiropractic treatment
When you have a headache, what’s the first thing you do? Turn to the paracetamol or some other form headache pills? You might find they work in the short term, as the same headache keeps recurring. Week by week, day by day. The pills are a mere sticking plaster as your headaches tend to be more regular than some bus routes.
This is where chiropractic treatment has a role. In a September 2001 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, 683 patients with persistent headaches were placed in three control groups. Some were placed in the medication group, others in the massage group, with the remainder in the chiropractic group.
For headaches, patients placed in the chiropractic group saw lasting benefits. Months after receiving chiropractic treatments, the patients had no recurring headaches.
What causes headaches?
Stress is a main cause of headaches as well as poor posture. Depression and certain types of foods can also be a trigger point. Chiropractic treatment isn’t only a good alternative to taking the tablets. It is good for fighting stress, especially as muscle adjustments can address muscle tension and contraction that have been caused by stress.
